Work next door so always pass by and there is always a line. Hard to pick a favorite bagel between Layla and Jyan Isaac. Both are so good and amazing flavors. Jyan Isaac felt a bit lighter. Got the cucumber bagel sandwhich on everything. Seating outdoor only. Good spot for people watching and watching the bakers at work.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY
Beware of this place and it's overly protective owner. Bought bagels at Layla (literally 2 sandwiches), bought bread at Jyan Isaac (over $50 of bread, 5 loaves in total), and was told that we could not sit at their EMPTY tables to enjoy our sandwiches and the baguette we had just bought at Jyan Isaac. While I understand creating policies to protect your paying customers, you should allow your staff a little discretion and flexibility to provide more quality customer service. The policy of absolutely no outside food regardless of the fact that you are a paying customer of BOTH stores while ALL of your tables are empty seems super petty and bad business. I will not be supporting an owner that does not value their customers enough to give them a place to enjoy the products they just bought. Also in speaking with the manager, he further clarified that even if we had just bought bread from there that it is considered "take-out" and still would not "qualify" us to use their tables. The owner should also consider that we would not have bought ANY bread from your bakery if we had not been going to Layla for lunch, so having such a competitive attitude toward your neighbor is short-sighted and will lose you business.
Also, do not let the owner responses fool you that this is a staff issue. The staff were very well trained and polite in speaking with us and insisted that this is an owner driven policy.
@live_beautifullee and I enjoyed a Cinnamon Raisin Brioche @jyanisaacbread! It was soft, sweet and lovely to eat ❤️
Who doesn’t love a bakery? Fresh 🍞 bread the aroma . I wish we had one down the street from
Our house - we’d get fresh bread everyday if we could !’ This was our second stop on a carb crawl adventure right next to Layla’s bagels! 🥯 it’s a little window where you order your bread . They also have sourdough bagels !! We ordered some fresh sourdough and they cut it for you too ! We had some this morning and mmmmmm it’s so good !! Soft on the inside with a crunch on the outside !
Sadly the rudest customers in the world live around here and expect a lot of entitled unaware people. Update: DoorDash line was changed but still incredibly slow service. This bread is soo expensive you should be able to hire someone else to make the ordering process more efficient. Maybe a kiosk or something? This combined with the disgusting amount of non service dogs has made me leave here multiple times without placing an order. Will gladly give 5 stars if these customer service issues are fixed
The danish Ryebread is by far our favorite bread in Los Angeles. So much that we get it every week at our farmers market, even though for $12 (now $13) it almost counts as a luxury.
We wanted to try their bagels at their location at Ocean Park Boulevard, and got the heirloom tomato with sesame seeds and the cream cheese bagel with everything. We are not sure what happened, the bagels were delicious, but so chewy as if they were from the day before yesterday. Really hard to eat and definitely not worth the price.
The bread and bagels are amazing maybe the best baguette I have ever had. BUT this rivalry with Layla next door is ridiculous and not a customer forward situation. I was harassed just for sitting down with closed food from next door even thought I had no intention of eating their food here. We can read the abundance of signs. Put your beef away and think of your customers.
Hands down the best bagel and lox I have ever had in my entire life. I’ve toured NYC eating my way though bagel shops. This bagel is by far my favorite. The ingredients are SO fresh. The dill. The tomatoes. The onions. Covered in high …
